Upload option for new version/revisions?
Putting one here too. :D
I'd like an upload option for replacing an older song with a new version. So, that comments and plays remain but users can still note what has changed in the new version. Or more specifically in my case, so that you don't have to delete and reupload everytime you make a minor EQ adjust or something.
You could even include with this an option for removing all the user comments, but versioning them to the previous track. So, that you and other users can see the evolution of the track over time, and make notes on what to change for future versions, and will make comments better organized if you happen to change entire sections of the song, for instance.

The best point from the company

we're thinking to do it so that if you upload a new version of a track you get the old versions of the track (including playcounts/comments) on another link, e.g.
http://soundcloud.com/forss/flickermo...
with a little history browser next to the track as well.

Inappropriate?good idea, we've actually already planned this, but can't say exactly when it'll be available. a lot of things in the pipe right now :)

Inappropriate?ya im making a slight change in a fill right now and wish i had this

Inappropriate? In light of the new limitations placed on accounts as a result of the introduction of Pro accounts, can I ask how the uploading of versions will affect upload allowances?
For example, I'm doing daily updates to a track for my band - I upload and the rest of the guys comment on what I've done. I take the comments, produce a new track, and upload it for more comments. This is happening a couple of times a week at present, and this will chew up a lot of my "allowance".
It would be nice if the allowance applied only to new tracks, and not new versions. I realise this is problematic in that people can circumvent the allowance restrictions by simply uploading versions, but if you enforced a strict name for the collection of versions that might put them off.
Cheers,
Mo

Inappropriate?Ich finde diese Ide ein gutes ide. Sorry tried to speak german. I thinkt that Mr Forss plan of making some kind of version handling is super. Then it's possible to go back and listen to another version of the track and discuss changes from change to change. This highly prioritised if you ask me ;)
I’m excited
-
Inappropriate? So when can we expect that ?
-
Inappropriate?Oh man, even if it didn't version and it only kept the latest sound file, this would be amazing! Deleting and reuploading (and resorting in some cases) is what has pissed me off about sharing files through other services before, because it usually isn't until after I upload a song I notice something ever-so-slightly wrong.
I’m thankful
-
Inappropriate?Well.. it is months and months ago anybody know if this re upload is going to be realized?
I’m ongeduldig
-
Inappropriate? My guess is that they're going to wait until they can take all the PRO accounts away that they gave to everyone that was with Soundcloud before it opened to the public, and make it a PRO account only feature.

Inappropriate?it's coming guys :)

Inappropriate?I support this idea, there should be a easy way to update tracks. Does deleting an version and replacing it count as one upload (of the 5 free i'm allowed?)
-
Inappropriate?Hi, we're not quite there with versioning yet, but a related feature has just been launched. You can now replace an already uploaded track by going to the edit page for that track and clicking "replace track". That will simply upload a new version, while retaining playcounts/comments. Good if you want to upload a higher quality version or a different format, or if you realise there's a glitch in the audio you uploaded.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?Great, this is awesome, now I can replace my tracks more efficiently. Many thanks, I think that this at least resolves temporarly the versioning feature.
I’m impressed with the quality of service of SoundCloud.

Inappropriate?Good feature request. Glad it's being implemented.

Inappropriate?as an idea, i would prefer to see an image of the old track , ie the waveform, with the expandable comments below the new version along with any other versions. all you get are the comments and the waveform image in an off colour which confirms that there is no sound for that waveform, plus no play button ..... this would be a good visual history for the user and commentators. ... and avoids the problems of increased/decreased track times. i would add that on a new version being put up all commentators should be notified......
I’m excited by this possibility
