question about mp3 bitrate quality
I'd like to know if the mp3 conversion can't be 160kbps, or at least a better version of 128kbps: because when my 24bits files get converted, they sound sometimes very raspy: especially when I convert silent mood music made with orchestral sound, the strings sound really messy and basicly all midtones.

Inappropriate?There's quite a few different preferences on this question where some people would like a lot higher quality (me included) and some would like a lower quality. We're currently looking at options to be able to make it flexible so that the owner can choose the quality of the stream. This makes it a bit more complex for us to manage but right now it looks like we'll probably do it anyway. There's a few other features we need to build first but we're hoping to look back into this one later this year.2 Comments

Seems like there is still no choice as to the stream quality, which makes me wondering whether I'll go pro or not, since streaming 128kbps will definitely hurt the tracks I intend to share.

where can I read details about how sound is streamed out of soundcloud?

Inappropriate?It makes no sense for me to use less than highest mp3 quality to demo my audio, which I work really hard to get sounding decent. This is myspace quality audio.
