FTP directory for uploading large files.
it would be really nice to have an alternative method to uploading large files to a pro account. The files I upload are typically 300-500MB in size. It would be great to be able to use an FTP client to make sure the files get uploaded.

Inappropriate?Yeah, great idea. Another aspect of this feauture would be downloading your set, in the need for a backup of all your files.
-
Inappropriate?yeah, exactly. Come to think about it - if there are stalls uploading, there could be potential stalls downloading too, so yeah, having an FTP directory you could use an ftp client with, you could resume long uploads and downloads just the same.
-
Inappropriate? My idea was the same: using FTP for upload resume.

Inappropriate?it would be a nice "pro" feature to be able to ftp into your account and upload tracks. Just saying... as a "Pro" account holder... just saying... (ftp).

Inappropriate?we're considering it ;-)

I was thinking more about this the other day and there are some other considerations to it. First, the file format would have to be restricted to just the files you want to host on soundlcoud - .wav, mp3, etc. Also, there should of course be a quarantine directory (sandbox, etc.) for freshly uploaded files, so that if they're malicious, they don't go right to the server.
So, once the user has uploaded the files, jquery can still be used so that Meta, xml, timestamp, etc. are still kept to file (ftp doesn't have these functions of course) and the file gets properly "logged" into soundcloud.
I know you're considering this and that is a really exciting prospect. Thanks for listening to me rant!
Best to you Nils!
