extreme slowdown of FireFox
soundcloud really slows down firefox. It is the only site I'm aware of to reproduce this effect. Even my pc is laggin' when soundcloud is open via Firefox. When I close the site/ open a new website within the window everything is back to normal. It's like a huuuge lag of system response.
Anyone else experiencing this behavior?
FF 3.5 / XP SP3 / latest flash player / latest java engine ...only some add-ons, tho no internet related add-ons

Inappropriate?sounds strange no doubt! soundcloud is quite heavy on your system but it shouldn't be that bad. don't know what could be the problem, do you have the same experience in other browsers as well?

Inappropriate?I have this problem too. Firefox 3.5 on an iMac 2.4 Ghz running OSX 10.5.7... Not many plugins. I tried disabling Firebug. It did not help. It seems to be related to the player. On a page with just a few players CPU usage is lower. On a pge with many players it's close to 100%. See dump for more info.
In Safari 4 the same page results in a CPU usage of 2-5%... So it is most probably Firefox and/or plugin related.... Hope this info helps.

Inappropriate?@martin: thanks for the additional help! what plug-ins are you using btw?
I’m thankful

Inappropriate? The installed plugins are shown in the screen dump. They are: Adblock Plus, Delicious Bookmarks, Firebug, Skipscreen and Foxylicious (disabled).
A moment ago I tried uninstalling Firebug as it has caused some trouble in the past. No effect though... -
Inappropriate?other browsers ... I don't have many to test - only IE8 and with that one everything is normal. Like, I can have as many tabs open as I want but still everything is usable and responding as it should but FF just locks / "freeze" my PC ... When I play just one track my PC is not useable anymore. Dunno what you could need as info from me... as proof I made a screenshot + some tech info.
hope that helps a little to track it down.
FF 3.5

Inappropriate?I mean... Flash is somewhat known to be a resource hog but I never had this problem before... even on some blog sites where they post a massive amount of flash based video players.
it must be related to the soundcloud player as Martin Lissmyr stated above ... -
Inappropriate?dunno what your tech team did but as of today soundcloud is finally useable again !!
now FF doesn't freeze my PC and I can have as many tabs open in FF as I want and still listen to tracks ... great !!
thank you :)
I’m HAPPY

Inappropriate?I still have this problem. Whatever you did (if anything) did not help me as it did Sill.
I’m sad

(Hey Martin, this is a copy/paste from my update in the thread below)
Hey. I had the same problem for a while and never quite understood what was going on. We just did a run-through of all my FF plugins and have discovered that it was the AdBlocker plugin causing the slowdown.
However, I've then installed the AdBlockerPlus plugin (which apparently you use, Martin) and it still works perfectly smooth.
In any case, don't use the old AdBlocker and try having the AdBlockerPlus on the latest version and it should be fine.
Please let me know if this works. -
Inappropriate?I'm experiencing this problem in both Firefox 3 and Opera. soundcloud.com is the only site which does this for me.

Inappropriate?altho I stated in my last comment that all issues were gone, that wasn't really the truth as sometimes the problem persisted.
but as of today I can 100% assure you that with FF 3.5.2 the problem is really gone.
so, that must have been a FF issue, some flash memory leak or whatever but they seem to have fixed it.
Tho I'm a bit surprised that Jamei mentions Opera here. Obviously their browser got the same flash issue with soundcloud. Maybe soundcloud devs should contact the Opera team to solve the issue.
but concerning FF.. as I said, install latest 3.5.2 and you will see soundcloud can be used again :)

Unfortunately my computer crashed yesterday so I won't be able to test this for a while... I will have to reinstall my whole system so probably (hopefully) I won't have this issue at all when I'm back up. I get back to you if I run into this again. Thanks for the help!
