Maurice Kelly replied on July 24, 2009 11:38 to the question "monthly limits" in SoundCloud:
Nils,
I don't get why you guys are so obtuse about this. Since limits were imposed, the following info has been displayed in every page I've requested from Soundcloud:
window.settings = {"currentUser":{"plan":1,"permalink":"mo-le-starre","quota":{"uploads":15,"playlists":Infinity},....
I just uploaded a track and my "uploads" value dropped to 14.
I then deleted the track I just uploaded, and my "uploads" value increased to 15.
I'm on the Pro-Light account so my monthly limit is 15.
The information is very obviously available - it's embedded in every page I request. It's also updated in real time. Why not just display it through a page and save me from having to Ctrl/Cmd-U every time :-)
Cheers,
Mo

Would be nice also if the Spotify client could be poked into reading my iTunes database, and build up a series of playlists based on what I already own. I like to listen to all my tunes in Spotify now that I'm paying for the premium service, but sometimes, I just want to browse some of my own collection.

Maurice Kelly shared an idea in Spotify on May 12, 2009 08:42:
Local Spotify caching proxyAny chance of Spotify producing an application to provide a shared cache for use in environments where a lot of people use the same internet connection (e.g. universities, businesses, wi-fi hotspots). I work in an office where a number of people are using Spotify and we're often sharing playlists. With the current cache system, each computer can playback from it's own cache, but it means each listener is downloading the same tracks. I think it would help bandwidth (ours and yours) if we could deploy a Spotify specific caching proxy that we could all configure our clients to use.
Cheers,
Maurice
Maurice Kelly replied on May 03, 2009 09:59 to the problem "copyright" in SoundCloud:
Good man Observer for pointing this out. This is the danger of Soundcloud - it's as easy for idiots like Olivia to use it as a replacement for file-sharing sites as it is for genuine musicians.
I'll be interested to see just how quickly Soundcloud do something about this. I've reported one of the tracks for copyright infringement - I'd like to think this is a clearcut case and that they will act very quickly.-

Maurice Kelly replied on April 02, 2009 07:17 to the problem "Image in player pixelating" in SoundCloud:
I've noticed this recently as well. When I click on the images beside the track title (from within SoundCloud) then I get a nice large version of the image with no pixelization. Yet when I view the player on my MySpace account, there is veyr obvious pixelation on the mini image.
Cheers for pointing it out Andrew!-

Hey man.
We have managed it here: http://www.myspace.com/theacolytesband
I didn't set it up, but our drummer did. You could look at our source code (Ctrl/Cmd-U in Firefox) to see if you get any clues. Also, I think there are some posts on the subject in here which is what he used for it.
Maurice Kelly replied on March 12, 2009 08:18 to the idea "Countdown for Pro Members" in SoundCloud:
It's not a countdown, but there seems to be an indicator of your quota available in the source HTML of every page on Soundcloud: just view the HTML source and search for the word quota. If you observe it every day, then note when your quota changes, you should then be able to predict when your quota month starts/ends.
But I agree, I'd like to see more usable information like this. Even the fact that the remaining quota appears in every page, but I have yet to find it displayed on screen seems a bit bizarre. The info is obviously readily available.
Cheers,
