Why some companies go the way of the Dinos and other are here to stayOk here is the deal, you guys have a really great concept but I see a big problem on the horizon (I have a crystal ball and everything so y'all best listen up)- people DO NOT like quirky, buggy or otherwise unpredictability in their software (web or otherwise) applications. Let me first give you some background as to why I might know a thing or two about this. I was the senior web developer for a major television network in the Netherlands for several years. I developed and coded complex web applications like a medical symptom analysis engine. The websites I constructed ranked 3rd in the Neilson ratings for adults aged 20-35 in the BeNeLux so I had a decent size sample of public to develop my opinion from. Even if an application does what people need and want, if it doesn't work 99.99%-100% of the time: they will tolerate it for a short time then say "F it, I ain't [sic] got no time for this BS"(ESPECIALLY if its something they are paying for). There are several bugs I've seen (some very annoying) the latest being that my statistics are only up to date when I go to my profile view then click "Tracks", as well as not being able (for the life of me) to update my songs photos. I have a very logical and methodical mind for trouble shooting. I don't just try one thing then give up. Your customer service people are "Johny on the spot"(quick to respond) and I can tell they are doing their very best, but it must be a very frustrating job when the web applications are about as reliable as a Fiat with 800,000km on the odometer (or even worse any American made car...however they never ever could make it to 200K much less 800). So look if you want to keep your market share, and web audience then you need to improve the technical reliability. Come on I KNOW you guys can do it, you're German for God's sake, My 1987 Mercedes 300D is pushing 400,000km without any major overhauls and she runs like a champ. What you need is quality control testing using an department working independent from your IT developers. Make a 'test' version of your site. Test even the most minor change before making it live. I can help with this task if you so desire my help, but do get someone on it otherwise SoundCloud is going to be something that in a couple of year people will be saying "oh remember back in 2009 that site, soundsky or soundclown or something...yeah they actually were the ones who invented what <name> is doing, isnt that funny.
Please delete this message from public view, and forward a copy to Alexander Ljung: I think it would most useful for it to go straight to the top.

Again problems...Ok now the statistics are messed up again, counting all my own plays. One of my tracks that I have submitted to the private dropboxs of a&r departments, along with an email, link no longer works...it says OOPS!! that would be the track suppa sassy retro mix. Need this last thing fixed asap

Sorry to have gotten so snippy, I know that you have no control over these situations. It was just very frustrating because it made me think that my favorite label was totally interested in my music, a musician's dream come true, thinking my phone would ring any minute, but then to find out that 'well maybe not' and in the words of Moliere "Doubts are more cruel than the worst of truths.". Doesn't mean they won't be interested when they finally get around to listening to it anyhow.

OK well some people may have got plays that didn't exist and it looks like some stats were lost, I'm totally confused about this. Did they listen to my tracks or not? I only gave one user the rights to listen to 3 tracks, and I'd REALLY like to know if YES they listened or NO a stupid bug was just pulling my chain. VERY inconsistent results and for me the mystery is not resolved about what ACTUALLY occurred. How on earth could I have 11 favorites then two...but at the same time zero plays?

My favorites look like they might be restored but they went from 11 down to 2 all of a sudden. All my plays are still gone(had 11). The only music I've put on SoundCloud so far is some tracks I submitted privately to the A&R of a record company, its the first time I've ever sent a demo out to any Record company and this one would be my first choice to work with. I was really stoked that they had been listening to my music and marking it as favorites the last couple of days, now it feels like maybe I was just having a nice daydream. I can't afford a pro membership right now but it would be really nice to know what was going on.

My stats are gone as well, are you guys saying that you will be able to restore the user who asked the questions stats, or are you working on a global solution? Also was wondering if a user switches to pro, will they be able to retroactively view the more specific stats or will you only have information starting when you switched?-
Diederik started following the problem "song plays mysteriously decreased by about 40 plays" in SoundCloud.
Diederik asked a question in SoundCloud on October 22, 2009 23:06:
Are dropbox stats from a pro user able to be reset by that user?I had some tracks I put in the drop box of an A&R dept. It showed that there had been 11plays and 9 favorites, then all of a sudden it went down to no plays and 2 favorites, are they able to reset the stats for someone in thier dropbox? I am user1165695 can you tell me what is going on please?
