A comment on the problem "Bring back the dropbox" in SoundCloud:
I think filters are not a good idea. The idea of dropbox folders makes more sense. Can let the user select which folder, defined by the dropbox owner, to drop in. And folders should be closeable, meaning no more drops, by the owner. These would no longer show up on any list users see of folders when dropping. – CGF, on June 18, 2009 20:28

Upload not workingOnce again, can't upload - just hangs forever.

Same track should have settings for BOTH public and private sharing. You could save some storage (possibly a lot) with this. I often have the SAME track loaded twice, cuz one I want to publicly share streaming only, and another I want to privately share, including original download, with named people. Why not have one set of settings for public sharing, and another for private sharing, for each track?

What do you even mean by "another format" - do you mean ogg instead of wave? Or do you mean "44.1K" instead of "44K", or bit depth or...?
This is NOT solved - it is ignored. Why not mark it "won't fix" so you aren't fooling people into thinking they can have confidence in the conversion? At least we'd know to be warry about checking conversions completely after upload.
Of course 128K encoding is going to lose a lot of quality, but still, you force us to either not use soundcloud, or accept that people will hear LOUSY quality audio, or not use soundcloud. For me, the last two are the same -- lousy quality = don't use at all. Come on.
Or give us the option to use higher quality download. Or issue guidelines for the original that will give best result.
I don't feel like chasing after some elusive "right" file format, upload after upload to hopefully hit the "one" that your encoding won't foul up. – CGF, on May 01, 2009 16:13-

Mangled audio from the MP3 encodingListen to the last quarter of "Secret Message" - the kick has huge distortion crackles. These are not in the original, nor is it from digital distortion, as the waveform is visibly off the limit, and it was mastered to -3dB. The MP3 encoding has mangled this tune, so that it is embarrassing to send anybody to hear it.
A comment on the question "How do you share a previously uploaded track into another's website's Drop Box?" in SoundCloud:
unfortunately, the entity asking for submissions specifically has said to use their drop box. Strangely, they said to first upload, THEN put it in their drop box... which sounded like you may have implemented this feature???? – CGF, on March 19, 2009 12:16-
